This game is designed to be used as an assessment tool after students have received instruction on specific notes. Ex: Use the BAG Version after students have had experience playing songs using the notes BAG.

Have a discussion about good sportsmanship and being supportive of classmates before playing this game.

Have some peer coaches in mind for students who may strike out. Have an area designated as the dugout where these students can review notes and fingerings.

Tell Batters to take their time. Some of your best students will try to play their notes very quickly and may strike out just because they are rushing.

If you are using the PowerPoint version, students waiting for their turn at bat should finger the melody silently on their recorder as the Batter plays.

If you are using the Print & Play version, print Singles and Doubles on brightly colored card stock. Laminating isn’t necessary since you will be the only one handling these cards. This would be a great project for a parent volunteer.

Invite students to wear baseball hats during music class on Recorder Baseball days.

Teach the song Take Me Out to the Ball Game and sing it prior to playing Recorder Baseball.

Have a grade level Play Off series at the end of the school year.

Use Recorder Baseball at the beginning of the school year to review the notes your students learned the previous year.

The PowerPoint versions include some sound files so make sure your sound is not muted.
