Teaching recorders should not be painful for teachers or their students! Join Joyce as she shares tried and true methods for this “gateway” wind instrument. She’ll include tips for getting good recorder sounds from the very first class, using a sequenced learning approach, and exploring a variety of musical styles and genres, as well as possible adaptations.

Joyce’s session will cover the following:
1) Why recorders?
2) Classroom management considerations
3) The critical first lessons
4) Adaptations and Challenge Activities
5) Creating and composing
