Musicplay is a menu. The teacher is not expected to teach every song or activity. Choose the songs and activities from the list that will best fit your schedule and the needs of your students.
Sing the echoes in "Welcome to Music".
Listen to the song and watch how the notes go higher and lower.
Play the video again and sing along with the lyrics and the solfa.
Find instruments to play the B and C sections of Time to Play and improvise with instruments during the B and C sections of the song.
Choose 2 kinds of instruments - woods and metals or drums and shakes/scrapes
Have one kind of instruments improvise in the B section and the other during the C.
Improvising means to make up the music as you go along.
Option 1: Print the composition template for the students. They fill in each box with one of the rhythms shown below. Then, play their rhythm as the B or C section in the song, "Time to Play."
Option 2: If you have class devices, use the rhythm composition tool to write a rhythm.
When your composition is complete, copy it onto a piece of paper.
Then, go back to the video of the song and play your composition as the B and C sections of the song.
Sing the song "Tony Chestnut."
If you remember them, do the movements.
If you need help remembering the movements use the demo video that follows.
Listen and copy what students do in the Kids Demo video as they sing "Tony Chestnut".
Listen to the song. Ask the students to raise their hand when they hear the music get faster. Ask the students to tell how the faster tempo makes them feel. Read about tempo on slides 1-7. Use the pointing pages on slides 9-11.
Choose a level. Then you choose the tempo to clap.
If students need to review the terms, select the button titled Teaching Slides.
Then clap or pat the pattern with the music.
Try a new tempo.
Dramatize "Hungarian Dance No. 5" by Brahms.
Follow the instructions in the video.
Review the song "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt".
Play the video again and sing along.
If you made dynamics cards last week, hold up the correct card when you sing.
