Echo do-mi-so patterns in F.

Play Copycat with the music of Bach. Choose 4 students to be leaders. Give each student 8 measures of 3/4 to be the leader. Then, point to the new leader.
The first section has a tricky rhythm, so you might need to be the leader for section 1.
Choose new copycat leaders for Variation #5.
This variation has a steadier beat in the first section, so you can use all student leaders.
Ask students to listen to how the music in this and the next examples is similar and how it is different.
This is a visual of Variation #4.

I have shown this video to Gr 2 students, but always showed about 10-15 min. per class.
A slide show has been created that provides a synopsis of the video and discussion questions. There is a lot that students can learn from the video. Printable worksheets are also available in the unit.
This song is included to give the students an opportunity to create a rhythm composition. In this composition, the students will compose with rhythm symbols rather than speech. Teach the song by rote.
Use the interactive Rhythm Composition Tool to create a B section for the song.
When you are happy with your composition, copy it onto a piece of paper.
Play it for your teacher. (To save time teachers might have a group practice.)
Sing the song with the recording and play your composition as the B, C, D or E section.
