Play the game to review the following rhythms: quarter-note, eighth-note pair, quarter-rest, half-note, four sixteenth notes
This song can be used as a fun song or as a “stretch” during a class or rehearsal.
Begin the song sitting down. Each time you sing a word that begins with the letter B, change position. The first time you sing a B word, stand up. The next time you sing a B word, sit down. Continue in this way throughout the song. When you sing the song faster, it becomes more of a challenge. Have fun!
Choose a variety of non-pitched percussion instruments. Assign one instrument to each of the following words: "Bonnie", "Ocean", "Bring Back", and "To Me". Have students play the rhythm of the word when it is heard in the song.
Play the recording and have students follow along, noticing and responding to any tempo changes.
Rotate instruments so each student gets a chance to try all four.
Sort the tempo words from slowest to fastest. Try "My Bonnie" with the different tempo words.
Review instruments of the percussion family with the game "Four Corners".
Complete one or more of the worksheets for the percussion family.
