Introduction

In this lesson, you will:

  • review how to hold sticks
  • review parts of the buckets, see how they transfer to bucket drum score
  • read, play and compose quarter and eighth-note patterns on buckets with music
  • practice alternating hands on different parts of the bucket after 2 beats

Find something to use for sticks and something to use for a bucket.

You can use drumsticks, dowels or even wooden spoons for sticks.

You could use a 5-gallon bucket, an ice cream bucket, or even a cardboard box.

Review the parts of the bucket

You can play the sides, top and rim of the bucket.

And you can click your sticks.

The next line down is the rim of the bucket. Play on the forward part of the rim.

The next line down is for the top of the bucket.

The bottom line of the staff is the side of the bucket.
