Learn About The Half Note
Copy LinkLearn about the half note.
Have the students step the beat while they sing. Have the students clap the sounds the words make (rhythm). Ask the students how many sounds are on each beat. The word "brown" is held for two beats. Show the students that you can hold a note for longer than one beat by using a tie or using a half note.
(Note: if you are looking for more slides to teach the half note go to the song Falling Leaves and review the projectable slide "Beat and Rhythm")
Is It One Sound or Two? - With Note Values!
Copy LinkIs it one sound or two?, this time with note values!
This time, you get to drag the notes to show how many sounds there are on a beat.
There's one tricky word: float. When we sing it, we sing two pitches.
So in my answer, I've called this two sounds on a beat.
Don't peek at the answers unless you need help!
