In this lesson, you will:
- sing the echoes in the song
- do the body percussion as shown in the video
- divide the class into two teams and play the game
Read the students the Letter Y story (worksheet 1 in supporting resources).
Sing the song.
Listen to part of the song, then echo.
Play the video again and sing along.
Watch and sing along with the kids demo.
If you have a printer have the students do the worksheets.
If not, invite the children to practice printing Y and draw two things that start with Y.
Listen to one verse.
Play the video again and sing the whole song.
Option 1: copy 1 set of the picture cards. Cut them out.
Give 1 card to each of 8 children.
Hand them out face down so you can't see what you're giving and they can't fuss about what they're getting. It's even more fun if ask the children to close their eyes while you give out the cards.
Sing and dramatize the game. The farmer starts and 'chooses' the child who's holding the wife card.
The wife 'chooses' the one holding the child card.
Option 2: copy a set of cards for all the students. Then, they sequence the cards as they listen to the song.
Give half the class shakers and half the class plastic castinets (or sticks).
When you sing the verses, the shakers play.
When you sing "quack quack quack" the castanets play.
This week we’ll review songs that you could sing around the campfire or on a car trip.
Have fun singing with your family!
Teachers: Another option is to review the movement songs in the Movement Fun module.
It's in General - Movement Fun
Review "Goin' on a Bear Hunt" by playing a verse of the video and then play the video again and sing along.
Watch the kids demo and do the actions to "Goin on a Bear Hunt."
Listen to a verse of "Take My Little Car".
Start the video again and sing along.
