Review "Head and Shoulders"

Touch the body part as you sing. Try the song faster! Another way to play this game is to leave out a word each time you sing. The first time you sing everything. The second time through, you leave out the word “toes” and just do the action. The third time you leave out the word “knees” and “toes” and just do the actions. Continue until the song is all actions and no singing. The last time, put all the parts back in, and sing it very quickly. When you do this, it helps to develop “inner hearing” - the ability to hear the song in your head.

Use this song to assess how well the students can recognize phrases. As they sing the song, have them show the phrases by drawing an arc in the air with a finger. To assess, ask them to do this with their eyes closed and observe if they can successfully show the phrases when they cannot see the teacher or other students. Mark this on your checklist as a Yes/No.

Review "Vive la compagnie"

“Vive le compagnie” is a traditional song in French, but the words are altered slightly in this arrangement to teach students the parts of the body in French. Add actions to the song to show the various parts of the body. During the chorus, have the students create a dance. They could put left heel out and back, then right heel out and back, or get as complex as you like.
