Teaching Procedures
Sing the echoes for “Time for Music”
Create new ways to keep a beat and sing the new verses. Sing unaccompanied or accompany with a ukulele.
Say the “Hello Beat Chant”
Review different instruments using the “Mystery Box”
triangle, sticks, finger cymbal, egg shakers, drum, frog guiro - Talk about timbre of instruments. Ask the students if the sound of the instrument is high or low - this is difficult for PreK
Optional: Play Trivia Wheel - 1 or 2 sounds Vegetable
Compose Word Rhythms with Healthy Food
Extend the previous 2 activities with composing. Create patterns. Choose body percussion or instruments and decide how to perform them.
Optional: Play Trivia Wheel - loud or quiet
Review the play along with “Six Little Ducks”
Give half the class shakers and half the class plastic castinets (or sticks).
When you sing the verses, the shakers play.
When you sing "quack quack quack" the castanets play.
Review “Elephants Have Wrinkles”
Review and request Favorite PreK Songs: Choose from PreK song list or review the songs that follow.
Review “Goin’ On A Bear Hunt”
Review "Goin' on a Bear Hunt" by playing a verse of the video and then play the video again and sing along.
Review “Take My Little Car”
Listen to a verse of "Take My Little Car".
Start the video again and sing along.
