Play Freeze Dance
Review "Strawberry Shortcake"
This is a reading song. Students should be able to read the rhythms, and you can use the melody to have them show melodic contour. If you are teaching solfa, this song will be preparation for la. Sing the song for the students reading and tracking the words while you sing. Sing and play the game.
Play the "Strawberry Shortcake" game
Sing the song, then chant the months of the year. When you come to the month in which you have a birthday, stand up.
Teach "Little Red Car"
“Little Red Car” is a fun song for the students to learn. Teach the chorus by rote, and have the students sing the chorus each time they hear it in the song. Then teach each of the verses. Make up actions as suggested by the words of the song. For all the “roll” parts, you could roll arms. You could wave both hands left-right, left-right on all the "la la la" parts.
