Listen to the song. Move as the words suggest. Sing or listen to one verse of the song. Start the video again and sing the entire song, creating different movements for each verse. Watch the teacher demo for movement ideas.

Move with the teacher to “Bunny Rabbit Boogie”

Sing or play the song for the students. Students can read the rhythms, words and melody from the projectable slides. Explain how the game is played. Be sure that the students don’t shout when they are singing loud. They should always sing with a nice sound. The students should be able to read the rhythm for the song if you write it on the board. If you are teaching solfa, this is a great m sl reading song

Choose one student to hide the Easter basket and another student to look for it. The student who is going to hunt for the
Easter basket leaves the room while the hider hides it. When the finder returns, the class sings the song, singing softly when the finder is far away from the basket, and singing louder as the finder gets closer to the basket. The basket must be hidden in plain sight. The game continues until everyone in the class has had a turn to hide the basket or to find it. This is an excellent opportunity to review “loud” and “quiet.” Remind the students that the musical word for loud is forte and the musical word for quiet is piano.

Playing and Creating: Have the students choose four treats that they would like to get in an Easter basket and make them into a pattern to say with speech or say and play on non-pitched instruments. Use the patterns as an introduction or an interlude between repetitions of the song.

Note: If students in your class don't celebrate Easter, change the lyrics to "Little bunny, little bunny..."

Have the students form a circle. Choose one student to be the Easter Bunny. The bunny hops around the outside of the circle while all the students sing the song. At the end of the song, the bunny tags a student who hops after the bunny. If the bunny gets tagged, s/he is “caught.” If the bunny makes it to the middle before the student who is chasing, the bunny wins.

Use this song to assess how well the students can recognize phrases. As they sing the song, have them show the phrases
by drawing an arc in the air with a finger. To assess, ask them to do this with their eyes closed and observe if they can successfully show the phrases when they cannot see the teacher or other students.
