This is a shorter version of the "Hello Song" in English, French and Spanish, without names.
Review the song and make up movements to the music.
If you want to review many more of the movement songs from the year, there is a module in "Learning Modules - General - Movement Songs Favorites".
Watch the video and do the body percussion shown.
Have fun with this new game.
Divide the class into 2 teams or play teacher vs. students.
Listen to the song.
Play the video again and sing along.
Game Directions:
Form a circle. The ‘miller’ stands inside the circle pretending to grind the grain. Students step the beat around the circle while they sing the song. A second student, the ‘mill owner’ walks outside the circle. At the end of the song, the miller runs out of the circle and is chased by the owner back to where the circle was broken. Choose a new ‘miller’ and ‘owner’ and continue the play until everyone has had a turn. If there are uneven numbers, the teacher can take a turn.
Watch the note highlights video for the song.
Show with your arms how the notes go higher and lower.
It would be fun to show how the notes go with a parachute or a stretchy band.
Listen to the story "The Mill" and sing the song when it occurs in the story.
Say and play an instrument with the poem:
Ticka tacka ticka tacka
Ticka tacka tick
Listen to the song video. Stop after each verse and ask students to tell you what the children in the song were doing outside.
Play the video again and sing along.
Can you think up new verses?
A reproducible mini-book is given in Supporting Resources.
Students may enjoy illustrating the verses in the song.
This is an activity that is especially useful to teachers who cannot sing in music classes.
Review the song and create actions for song #166 'Miss Polly".
This week we’ll sing some songs that you could sing around the campfire or on a car trip.
Another option for teachers is to do all the movement songs in the Movement module under "Learning Modules - General - Movement Songs Favorites".
Listen to the song "The More We Get Together".
Play one verse. Play the video again and sing along!
Make up movements to go with the song.
Listen to a verse of "Kumbayah".
Then play the video again and sing along.
