1 Sing the echoes in the song #1 "Welcome to School"
Sing the echoes in the song #1 "Welcome to School".
In this lesson you will
Sing our closing song, “Skinnamarink”
Play Freeze Dance with the music or play instruments to the beat!
Invite the students to move to the beat - dance, twist, hop, turn, sway.
Teachers starts the music. When the teacher hits pause, all FREEZE.
Some teachers play this as an elimination - if you're moving after the music stops, you sit down.
A fun variant is to have the students freeze and make a pose. You might make a pose like a pumpkin, a cat or a skeleton.
You could invite students to choose instruments and play to the beat along with the music.
Sing and move to #35 "Halloween Looby Loo".
On the part with the "oo" pretend you're stirring up a brew.
Do all the other movements that the kids do.
Review the poem "Jelly in the Bowl".
Try moving to the poem:
Lines 1, 2, 4: pat your tummy to the beat
Line 3: wiggle
Now choose 2 instruments.
Play one on lines 1, 2, 4 (sticks) and the other one on line 3 (shaker).
Try other ways to move or play with the poem.
Learn the game fro #36 "Costume Fun".
Choose one student to be the actor. Have the class sing the song and then guess what the student “is.” That student might choose to be an animal or may act something out – bunny, gorilla, piano player, baseball player, etc.
Sing to the class, asking them what the student is. For example, “What is Sarah?” (s m s m)
Individual students could sing their answer back to you. “Sarah is a bunny.” (ss ml s m)
Learn song #34 "Brush Your Teeth".
Have the students create actions to go with the song.
Talk about why it's important to brush teeth after you've eaten candy.
